Data Protection when contacting us

If you contact us via email or telephone you are giving your consent for Birmingham TMJ to collect your data for the purposes of providing medical services.

When contacting us via email, please be aware that advising on personal health matters is classed by the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) as ‘Special Category Data’ and because of this we will need to reply to those types of inquiries using an encrypted email service. We use the ‘Egress Switch’ system. You will need to enrol once (without any cost to you) with the Egress Switch system to allow you to read the encrypted emails – and to allow you to reply securely if needed. Details will be attached to the reply of your email enquiry telling you how to do this – otherwise please see https://switch.egress.com/ui/registration/accountcreate.aspx if you wish to create your account now. Please be aware that your reply may come from a different email account (info@medsecadmin.co.uk). Any replies should then be made back to that account. We are sorry for this inconvenience but we are acting to help maintain your privacy and data security.

Data Protection when booking appointments

By booking an appointment with Birmingham TMJ you are consenting to your personal data to be shared with AGREED 3rd parties only, which may include involved laboratories, clinics and hospitals in the UK. It is deemed ‘Good Medical Practice’ by the GMC for Mr Bernard Speculand to write a letter to your GP (or other referring doctor) following your consultation. If you do not wish this to happen please inform Mr Speculand in your consultation. Birmingham TMJ will not share your personal data with any party without your permission. Birmingham TMJ will hold in confidence all information received from its clients and its patients and will not disclose such information other than to its professional staff, independent consultants and/or persons to whom it has been delegated the performance of the tests and who require the information for such purpose.
